At 16, Hazel Grace Lancaster, a three-year stage IV–cancer survivor, is clinically depressed. To help her deal with this, her doctor sends her to a weekly support group where she meets Augustus Waters, a fellow cancer survivor, and the two fall in love. Both kids are preternaturally intelligent, and Hazel is fascinated with a novel about cancer called An Imperial Affliction. Most particularly, she longs to know what happened to its characters after an ambiguous ending. To find out, the enterprising Augustus makes it possible for them to travel to Amsterdam, where Imperial’s author, an expatriate American, lives. What happens when they meet him must be left to readers to discover.

To start I would like to say that this book attracted me when I read the summary of cover. I really liked reading this story and I must say that I am afraid of bad reviews that may exist about the book because I know they exist.
I love fantasy stories and I often read books on this theme, but reading this book has opened up another world for me. I loved this story. Quite a drama set in the United States. The main characters are  a  young girl and a boy called Hazel and Augustus.

"There are days, many of them, when I resent the size of my unbounded set. I want more numbers than I'm likely to get, and God, I want more numbers for Augustus Waters than he got. But, Gus, my love, I cannot tell you how thankful I am for our little infinity. I wouldn't trade it for the world. You gave me a forever within the numbered days, and I'm grateful."

I love Gus , he is a smiling boy and without a leg , but he is optimistic and he thinks that life is short and he tries to enjoy it. A good motto for life! He is thin and a bit muscular and I think the actor Ansel Elgort, Gus in the film, is very good for the role.
Moreover I love Hazel. She is also strong and a very special girl . The most characteristic feature is that Hazel has short hair and has to wear an oxygen bottle with her. They make a great couple.
What touched me most was the strength of the characters. I also like the cover of the book, it is very attractive . Some of the scenes are memorable because it is not the typical story of cancer. I do not usually like this type of novel , I confess.

Okay, maybe I'm not such a shitty writer. But I can't pull my ideas together, Van Houten. My thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations."

Overall , I really enjoyed reading it, and although it has not a happy ending , I would not change it at all .
And as everyone knows this book has been a best seller.
I recommend it to you!
